Welcome Back + Competition

We hope you’ve had a great Winter vacation and we wish you a Happy New Year!

The first few weeks of this term will seem a little quiet due to exams but later in the term we have more events planned. These will be added to our website next week when things should be confirmed.

In the mean time please enter our competition – you have nothing to lose! So far there have only been 3 entrants, but you have until Friday 23rd January to submit up to 2 photographs. The rules were accidentally left off the previous email, however they are included below. The easiest way to enter is using our online form http://yorkphotosoc.com/photography-competition/ . Film entries (prints) can be posted to our pigeon hole (P) in the YUSU Student Centre (ask the receptionist if you can’t find it).

Competition Rules

• The competition is open to all University of York Students/Staff
• Photographs must be taken within the last year
• The closing date is Friday 23rd January 2009. Subsequent entries will not be accepted.
• Your submission must be your own.
• You may enter a maximum of two photographs (Black & White or Colour)
• Digital files must be submited as JPEGs in high resolution to photosoc@yusu.org
• Images must be of printable quality, (at least 4 MegaPixels), otherwise they cannot be reproduced and therefore will be discounted from the competition.
• You must include in your submission your Name and College, and any information or blurb relevant to the title
• No Photoshop restrictions are in place for this competition.
• An indepdent judge will choose the winning entries. The judge’s decision is final.
• Any winner found to be in breach of the rules will have their prize withdrawn.
• By submitting images you grant photoSoc the limited licence to use/edit/publish the photograph in reference to the competition. In Print, and in exhibition format.
