A message from Matt Grum regarding this year’s Battle of the Bands, for which our members have access for photography. Read on for details – you cannot just turn up with a camera.
I am coordinating media coverage of Battle of the Bands this year. There are a number of passes available for photographers to get in and shoot on the night, the following (reasonable) conditions apply:
a) no tripods, shoe-mount flashguns front of venue
b) you must photograph all bands playing that night, no matter how bad they are
c) you must submit a selection of photos within 24 hours
Photographers will retain full ownership of all photos and BOB will have the rights to use the photos to promote future events, provided the photographer is credited. There will be restrictions on using SLRs and SLR style cameras without a pass so if you want to photograph the event get in touch with me!
There are 8 events total in this years competition, in weeks 4 and 6:
Heat 1 Monday Feb 2nd
Heat 2 Tuesday Feb 3rd
Heat 3 Wednesday Feb 4th
Heat 4 Thursday Feb 5th
Heat 5 Friday Feb 6th
Semi 1 Monday Feb 16th
Semi 2 Tuesday Feb 17th
Final Saturday Feb 21st
Photographers need to arrive at 7.30pm.
I have written a helpful guide to gig photography (which is particularly applicable to battle of the Bands), check it out here (there may be a test):

So finally if you would like a pass, please email BOB@mattgrum.com stating which nights you can attend.
Matt
PS I am playing in heats 1 and 5 so if you are photographing those nights you had better get some good shots of me.
