In previous years, PhotoSoc has lined the streets of York to photograph the annual RAG parade in the Spring term.
We will meet at Parliment Square in front of M&S at 11.50am on Saturday 14th February. There will be people with cameras. We will then follow the Parade around the Streets of York.
RAG invites us to do this so we can give them our best photos for future P&P. So if you get any good photos please email them to paradephotos@yusu.org.

The Committee of Langwith Arts, who run the Norman Rea Gallery in Langwith College, are proposing to put on an exhibition of photograpy by students, in which those who participate have the opportunity to sell their work. We’re planning on having the show open on Monday of week 8, so you’ve got a few weeks to think about what you might like to submit.
If photographers could submit a print of the photo (or photos) they would like to sell (be that digital or film) then we would try to sell them at a flat rate of a tenner, so that they’re accessible to students. We’re not talking massive fancy prints in expensive frames, but more like simple prints (even poster style) of brilliant photos that you think might appeal to whoever comes along. Ideally the prints should be on a large-ish scale (i.e. not just a standard 6×4) though the important thing is that everybody can put a photo or some photos (there’s no limit to how many you submit, though do show your best) in for an exciting exhibition where you can but your stuff on show.
We’ll have a big opening night, to which we will be inviting a massive list of people. Hopefully we will be combining that evening with an exciting piece of performance art by an artist we are currently in touch with. So it should be a great event!
In a few weeks it will be our Annual General Meeting, where you can stand for election to the committee. As most of the current committee are leaving it is vital we find someone to fill their shoes; if you’re interested come along on Monday night (16th Feb) to Derwent bar at 8pm. This is an opportunity to meet members of the committee and find out what’s involved in running the society.
