Hey All,

This is what we have going on for the next few weeks:

Week 4: Sunday 12pm-8pm

This Sunday York Carnival will be on all day, including a parade at 1pm and lots of things going on in Parliament Street. This would be a great opportunity to get some vivid photos of artists and musicians, as well as general street photography. The event is free so just turn up and enjoy the day!

Week 5:  Monday 7.30pm

The University photographer Paul Shields will be giving a Black + White film development demonstration, so you can learn and see exactly how a photograph is created! This will be very insightful for people interested in either film or digital photography. The demo will last about 30mins with Q&A afterwards. It will be held in the library’s photographic department, which is on the ground floor of the library beside the vending machines and the photocopying office.

Also, the “Down with Digital” demonstration has been moved to Monday 8th June (Week 7), more details to follow soon!

Hope to see you at the carnival and the film development demonstration!

Hello All !

So this Monday evening we have out digital officer with a ‘Down with Digital” session about making your digital pictures look more like their analog counterparts.

Look out for the time and place !

Also there is Ros Cole who keen to do a musical/ photographic project about perhaps motherhood/ (or creation/ destruction or similar) and was wondering if any of our members might be interested in taking some photos for it (a long term project that would be put together next academic year but start with initial photos now). He is doing an MA in music at York. If any of you are interested, please contact him for questions/details at: raec500@york.ac.uk

See you all !

Spring Festival of New Music

The Spring Festival of New Music will be running from the 9th -16th May. This would be an interesting opportunity to photograph live musicians, and most of the events take place in Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall, although some are across town as well. The Chair of the event is interested in members covering the event and uploading their photos on Flickr, look out for more details coming from us soon. A list of the events is available here:
