Trip Location

Sorry guys slight mistake made,

the trip with Outdoor Soc is to Flamborough in the North Yorkshire Moors, not Carlton Bank. It forms part of the coastline so you can get photos of both land and sea! All other details still apply, so do attend!

Outdoor Soc: Flamborough

* Cancelled – sorry *

On Sunday of Week 7 (the 14th) Outdoor Soc are holding a trip to Flamborough, at the top of North York Moors. We have arranged a deal to subsidise the price whereby if more than 5 people from PhotoSoc also attend then each PhotoSoc member will only have to pay £6 for travel. The trip will last most of the day, starting at 8.30 am and arriving back on campus for 6pm. Our group will have its own walk leader so we can go at our own pace.

This is an ideal trip for anyone interested in landscape, seascape, or possibly wildlife photography, and is one of the first steps we as a new committee have taken in working with other uni societies! If you do want to go, email us back by this Wednesday (10th) at the latest so that we can organise buying tickets for you (Please contact us and not Outdoor Soc).

Photo Competition

We will be running our own competition this term, with a “Monochromatic” theme. Monochrome simply means ‘of one colour’, but this doesn’t have to be black+white, you could do this in any colour, especially by using Photoshop. There is a possibilty that the cafe Pulse in the city will be willing to showcase some of the best photographs, so as well as the overall winner there will be some runner up positions as well. These will have their photographs enlarged and framed at our expense. Email digital entries to us (photosoc@yusu.org) or put any film prints in our pigeon hole (P) in the Yusu Head Office (in Goodricke). The deadline is Friday 19th of June ( Week 8 ) and the photographs will be judged by a panel independent of PhotoSoc. Best of luck!

Here are some examples of monochromatic photos:
