Hi Everyone,
If you didn’t make it to Thursday’s social then you definitely missed out! Once we have the last disposable camera collected then we will get them printed to disc and upload them on our website or Facebook, we will keep you posted. Thanks Irene for a great night, we are looking forward to the next one!
Events For Week 3
We have a quite a few events this week for you all to attend:
This Monday (26/10/09), our professional university photographer Paul Shields will be giving a talk on camera basics, such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc. If these words mean nothing to you then come down! Bring your camera too in case you have any specific questions. Even if you do know about how cameras work then you are still welcome to come along, you may find out something you never knew. The talk will be in the JBM seminar room which is on the ground floor of the library, see you there Monday at 8pm!
On Tuesday (27/10/09) Justyn will be taking people on a walk at night time as part of the Illuminating York week, where colourful art is projected on some of York’s most historic buildings, such as York Minster and St Mary’s Abbey. As well as being a brilliant opportunity to see other people’s artwork, this is a perfect way to create some of your own, check here for some photos in the style you may take:

We will be meeting at 8pm outside the public entrance of the Minster, for those of you coming from campus then the Number 4 bus at 7.40pm will probably be the best one to get. If you have a tripod, bring it!
On Wednesday (28/10/09), we will be making the most of the historic York architecture by having an afternoon trip to the Minster and then visiting the Museum Gardens to get some nice photos (check our Flickr photopool, there are quite a few examples on there). Meet Sam outside the YUSU office (near old Goodricke, and new James College, and near the Roger Kirk Center). We will be meeting at 1:30pm, then taking the bus to town to get to the Minster. If you prefer to meet us there, then we will be at the Minster around 2:30. Remember to bring your University Card to get free entry to the Minster, and money for the bus.
If you can’t make an event, then there is no need to contact us, just attend whatever interested you and what ever you have the time to make

Rugby Posters:
For those of you that don’t know, sometimes we have requests from other socieities to help them out with photography-related projects. We have had a request from Tom Weir of the university rugby team:

I want to do some posters for our first 1's home game against Durham (wed week 3) and have an idea forming already just need someone good with a camera and who can Photoshop us up well. Was thinking could be possibly a good project for a keen fresher if you get any who would be interested? (no payment i'm afraid apart from bacon sandwiches & plenty of exposure round campus) “
